Selling centre

Thrifty Rental

• Thrifty Car Rental opened its first dedicated van and truck hire centre in Padholme Road East, Peterborough, on 1July. It has a fleet of 40 vehicles from Escort vans to 38-tonners and plans to extend the fleet to over 100 vehicles within two years.

Tail-lift agents

• Forfar-based tail-lift manufacturer Ross & Bonnyman has added three new service and repair agents to its UK network. Commercial Body Care (Dundee), Pentagon (Poole) and Harry M(x)re (Exeter) Will offer 24-hour coverage. Ross & Bonnyman now has 50 qualified agents in the UK.

Duty of care

• Training agency Ethos Associates and environmental consultants Polaris Security have created a course for those involved in the collection, storage and disposal of waste. It is designed to help operators who have been falling foul of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 Section 34, which covers the duty of care. The home-study course generally takes three months to complete: it leads to a two-part certificate from the Accreditation Syndicate for Education and Training Cost: £350.
