• A Kent lorry driver has been warned he is in danger of being jailed for stealing Marks & Spencer clothes he was supposed to deliver abroad.
Jeffrey, Bates admitted taking £1,000-worth of items when he appeared before Canterbury Crown Court earlier this month. Simon Flint, prosecuting, said Bates, of Minster, stole the goods while employed by a haulage firm at Newington industrial estate. Police raided his home on 10 January and Found a large quantity of the clothing. Adjourning sentence for reports until 31 July, Judge Timothy Nash told Bates: "Normally people who do this go to prison. That is something you have got to Face."
