J. E. Cooke has been appointed chief engineer (design) for ERF Ltd. He was formerly engineering director at Atkinson Lorries for three years, and before then chief engineer for five years. Mr Cooke will be responsible to the engineering director, A. W. Turner, for all matters concerning the design of current and future ERF vehicles. Mr Cooke served his apprenticeship with Leyland Motors, and after service in the RAF was senior design engineer at Maudslay Motors from 1943 to 1956.
Malcolm V. Robson, 42, has been appointed marketing manager (north) of Ferrymasters Ltd and will be based at marketing hq, Station House,
Altrincham, Cheshire. Mr Robson joined Ferrymasters, a P & 0 Group company, after seven years as assistant manager with Continental Road Transport Services, Ackworth. Earlier this year Mr Robson was elected chairman of the international road functional group of the Road Haulage Association.
0. C. Mercer has been promoted traffic manager of United Automobile Services Ltd; C. Dickinson moves from traffic manager to special projects manager.
H. Whitaker, group transport manager, Ransome Hoffmann Pollard Ltd, has been re elected chairman of the Freight Transport Association's traffic committee. S. F. Gregory, national operations manager, Transfleet Services Ltd, has been elected chairman of the Association's technical committee. Mr Gregory succeeds F. K. Farquharson, Shell-Mex and BP Ltd.
David McVeigh, chairman, McVeigh Transport Ltd, Grimsby, has been re-elected chairman of the Transport Association.
Melvyn J. Chantler has been appointed North London and Middlesex representative for Pengco Transport Systems Ltd and will be responsible for promotion of the company's Load-O-Matic range of demountable transport systems, Mr Chantler replaces D. E. Bingham who was appointed assistant sales manager earlier this year.
Frank Briggs has moved from tyre export sales manager to assistant general sales manager, tyres, of Pirelli Ltd.
Joseph O'Neal, 24. has been promoted depot manager for the new Godfrey Davis truck rental depot at Commercial Road, Stepney, London. El.

Robert Highmoor, 35, has been appointed area manager for Pitt Trailers Ltd of Wigan covering the North East of England. He is based on Teesside.
