MR. A. E. C. DENT has been appointed road motor engineer of the eastern and north-eastern regions of British Railways. He joined the G.W.R. in 1911 and in 1938 became motor assistant to the superintendent of road transport. In -1948 he was appointed executive officer (road motor engineering) of the Railway Executive. Between 1944-48 he served as a director of the Western National Omnibus Co., Ltd., City. of Oxford Motor Services, Ltd., and E. G. Oldham, Ltd. He is one of the British Transport Commission's representatives on the council of the Motor Industry Research Association and was for several years chairman of. that body's executive committee. Mr. Dent succeeds MR. W. GUY JONES, who has given 45 years' railway service. He joined the G.W.R. in 1914 and in 1943 became road motor engineer for the L.N.E.R. system, attaining the position from which he now retires,' in

1948. '

MR. F. JAMES has retired from his post as traffic manager of Plymouth Co-operative Society. His successor is MR. J. T. LEECH.

- MR. M. J. HAYES has succeeded MR. H. J. BOARDMAN as secretary of Coras lompair Eireann. Mr. Hayes has been with C.I.E. for 17 years.

MR. W. G. DUMVILLE has been appointed north-eastern regional manager of British Insulated Callender Cables. Ltd., in succession to MR. E. CHARLTON, who is retiring.

MR. D. E. CHAMBERS has been appointed Midlands replacement-trade representative of Hepworth and Grandage, Ltd., in succession to Ma. T. E. SLACK, who has joined Reid, Watt and Co., Ltd.

Ma. J. H. GILBF.RT. general manager of Thomas Bros. (Port Talbot), Ltd., is to succeed MR. W. A. TIMPSON as general manager of A. Timpson and Sons, Ltd., when Mr. Timpson retires

on November 30.

Ma. L. A. Sstn-H is to succeed Ma. S. HARRIS as area manager at the Cardiff depot of the Western Welsh Omnibus Co.. Ltd. Mr. Smith joined the South Wales ,Commercial Motors concern in 1927 as a conductor. In 1951 he became chief clerk at Fly head office.

MR. M. J. CRAWFORD has been appointed managing director of the Wayne Tank and Pump Co.. Ltd. For some years he has been director and general manager. MR. C. E. FRANKS has relinquished the managing directorship but remains on the board.
