and I other important outdoor events, the B.B.C. is reinforcing its mobile television outfits with a number of Bedford-Scammell machines, the semitrailer attachment being designed and built for use as a studio. Two important features to which attention had to he paid were insulation and ventilation.
.1sofiex insulation material is employed on the sides, roof, front and rear of the body. To provide an adequate supply of fresh air there are five grid-type ventilators on each side. In addition, two Ventaxia 9-in;extractor fans are arranged in the rear of the body. with a single I2-in. fan in the front. a louvred panel being fined in all cases.
On the off side there is a Triplex drop window towards the rear end, and Opposite to it, on the nearside, there are two separate windows. all being provided with roller blinds.
Accommodation is provided for eight persons, together with three television cameras and mixer unit. Interior appointments include a production desk, four locker-type seats, four cupboards. and camera racks, All fittings are designed for ready removal to provide for televising indoors. Strip lighting to he operated off the mains
is installed. but five battery lamps are also available in an emergency.

These outfits, which will considerably reinforce the present mobile equipment of the B.B.C., were supplied by the builder, Spurting Motor Bodies, lid., The Hyde, Londc-i, N.W.9, to E.M.I. Research Laboratories, Ltd. 1 he television equipment was supplied by Electrical and Musical Research Laboratories, Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex.
