There are a number of areas that require special attention on these vehicles. First, since the oil is likely to become contaminated badly, and water vapour that condenses has less opportunity than normal to evaporate again, the oil and filter must be changed at frequent intervals.

Nuts are likely to loosen, so these must be checked— especially on the wheels, propeller shaft and hubs. If the nuts are used with studs, it is essential to remove the nuts, and check that the studs are fully home; mere tightening of the nut will just make things worse.
