D"'GNED for use in Ceylon for servicing dockyard vehicles and other equipment, a special multi-liquid dispenser has been built by W. B. Bawn and Co., Ltd., Blackhorse Lane, London, E.17, to carry 500 gal. of oil fuel, 100 gal. of petrol and a number of grades of lubricating oil. The dispenser is mounted on an Austin forward-control 3-ton chassis. The fuel is carried in a twocompartment main tank and the lubricant in saddle tanks,
Fuel-discharge equipment comprises two independent systems, each of which incorporates a Varley pump driven by a Petter air-cooled oil engine, a BrodieKent flowmeter, and an air filter. The amount of liquid to be discharged is predetermined in both cases with the aid of a Brodimatk Quantrol unit, which is preset to meter the required quantity.
A 20-ft, hose is provided for petrol discharge, whilst the oil-fuel hose is 60 ft. Both are equipped with Emco Wheaton trigger nozzles, and power rewinding of the hose reels is provided by electric motors.
The oil tanks are discharged by Willcox Imperial hand pumps mounted on an aluminium tray below the tank. These pumps have a measuring counter with which the amount discharged is shown in pints.
