Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Laura Hailstone HILARY DEVEY has given her support to CM’s ‘Fight Freight Crime, Save TruckPol’ campaign, claiming the loss of the unit would have a “far-reaching impact” .

“It’s a vital resource for the industry,” says the founder and CEO of Pall-Ex.

“Sadly, crime still blights the sector, and with many hauliers feeling the pinch they can ill-afford any kind of loss. It’s crucial that we have a resource like TruckPol acting in the best interests of the industry and working to stop those criminals who target truckers.

“I will be making all Pall-Ex members aware of the campaign and urge others in the industry to give it their support too," she adds.

The British International Freight Association has also pledged its support, saying the closure of TruckPol would lead to a “loss of the specialised knowledge it has garnered in the ight against truck theft and crime” .

The campaign, launched last week in conjunction with the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and the Freight Transport Association (FTA), is calling on the industry to send donations via cheque to CM as TruckPol has no further funding to keep it aloat after the end of March 2012.

“To gain this extra support is tremendous news,” says RHA head of communications Kate Gibbs.

FTA chief executive Theo de Pencier adds: “This shows how well-regarded this unique intelligence unit is and will add more clout to our calls to keep TruckPol alive.”
