THE BANKRUPTCY hearing of a former haulage proprietor has been adjourned pending a report to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The public examination of 30year-old Geoffrey Auston was adjourned indefinitely after the hearing at Durham was told how he had been "attempting to beat the system."
It was claimed that Mr Auston — whose firm Geoff Auston Transport ceased trading in December 1982 with debts of more than £38,000 — had since been working for a one-truck haulage firm owned by his exwife.
Assistant Official Receiver Robert Douglas told the court that Mr Auston, of Scargill Drive, Spennymoor, County Durham, was now living with his ex-wife although they had not re-married.
"It is clear he is not just an employee and his conduct is improper for an undischarged bankrupt," claimed Mr Douglas.
The examination also heard how Mr Auston had failed to disclose all his debts when questioned by the Official Receivers' office
