Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Mr. Jones, Quarries

• Three vehicles from an authorization of 18 were removed from the licence of Mr E.. Jones of Builth Wells when he appeared before the deputy South Wales LA in Cardiff last week under Section 69.

The company had been called following the issue of two immediate and five delayed GV9s and also seven defect notices. The company, said Mr Jones, was contracted solely to Amalgamated Road Stone Co Ltd and was engaged in carrying quarried materials. Seventeen of the vehicles were specified. All the maintenance, he said, was carried out on the firm's premises which was fully equipped and had both an inside ramp and an outside one. Besides himself Mr Jones employed two fitters and also a part-time tyre fitter.

Referring to the GV9s, Mr C. Rosser John, representing Mr Jones, said that the vehicles had very rough work to do in the quarries and in view of the nature of the work done he had recommended that inspections be carried out fortnightly.

The deputy LA, Mr C. Hugh-James, told the operator that a vehicle examiner had said the general condition of the vehicles was poor.
