• With Britain's accession to the EEC, a German publisher, Deutscher VerkehrsVerlag GmbH, 2000 Hamburg 1, Postfach 1128, is offering in Britain some of its transport reference books. They are available only in German, but provide unusually detailed guides.
ABC des Giiterkraftverkehrs (ABC of Road Haulage) by A. Merkle, 864 pages, costs DM 48 — about £6.25. It covers insurance and liabilities, domestic and international road haulage practice and legal obligations from a largely German viewpoint.
CMR-Handbuch by G. M. Precht and Dr K. Endrigkeit, 188 pages, costs DM 14.8, or about £1.90. This handbook on CMR sets out the provisions and includes some decisions of the courts.
Leitfaden fir die Berufsaushildung des Spediteurs, 612 pages. In two parts, price DM 39 (about £5.20) and DM 21,8 (about £2.90) respectively. By W. Lorenz. This twopart publication is a guide for the training of forwarding agents. Again, it is understandably orientated towards German needs, but contains a considerable amount of generally applicable material on the various transport modes. There is extensive treatment of customs requirements and TIR.
