Electric tractor

The range of Worksaver handling equipment made by Eaton Yale and Towne Inc. has been added to with the Yale GT3 electric rider tractor which will be suitable for use in warehouses.

It incorporates a hydraulic gripper mechanism that clamps the leading frame member of the trailer and lifts the tractor's rear wheels clear of the ground. This immediately motorizes the trailer and an advantage of the feature is that the operator can couple up quickly to any suitable trailer with front caster wheels without dismounting from the tractor.

The GT3 is a three-wheeler capable of an initial pull of 7001b and a sustained pull of 200lb and has been designed for applications where the main requirements are manoeuvra

bility and fast turn-round in congested areas. Maximum laden travel speed is 5 mph, three forward speeds being selected through cams to micro-switches; the cams are operated by a single rotary control on the handle. Made by: Yale materials handling division, Eaton Yale and Towne Inc., Wednesfield, Staffs, An inexpensive alarm kit—the Waterloo Changeover—has been designed by Read and Campbell. The system consists of "breakglass" contacts, alarm bells and a changeover unit from which the kit gets its name. The changeover unit enables the system which is normally mains operated to change over immediately to dry-cell-battery supply in the event of a power cut.

Up to six break-glass contact points with alarm bells can be used making the equipment sttitable for smaller premises. It is said to be safe to operate and simple to install and maintain; full instructions and wiring diagram are supplied.

Way to stop rust

A new rust inhibitor introduced by Plow Products and named Supertrol 001 has been developed expressly for application to the interior surfaces of box sections as in the chassis and body of motor vehicles. But in addition to preventing rust from forming in the first place, it is said that it will neutralize existing rust to prevent it from spreading.

Supertrol 001 is claimed also to be effective in protecting chrome work and metal-tometal joints and, in addition, to be effective in protecting any metal fabrication, casting or spare parts. It is available in a 16oz aerosol fitted with a flexible extension tube to enable inaccessible areas to be treated, and quart, 0.5gal and 1gal cans, 5gal drums and 40gal barrels.

Two in one case

A reversing lamp of compact dimensions has been introduced by Lucas. It is named the 785 Twin Light and as the name suggests, the casing houses two separate lamps, illumination being provided by a pair of mushroomshaped 12V 5W aluminized capless bulbs.
