Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by R. D. Cater • A new range of general haulage semitrailers based on a peripheral frame design has been announced by Arrow Construction Equipment Ltd., Blythe, Northumberland. The design has been tailored to meet the transport industry's requirements following a survey of transport and of contemporary methods of trailer building. Complete standardization of parts has been one of the features of the range, based on Rubery Owen running gear. Axles used are of 22,500lb variety incorporating 16.5 by 8.875in. brake units. M-type suspensions are used and, to save unladen weight, single taper-leaf springs.

Three-line air braking is standard, using Berg spring-powered chambers for emergency and parking brake duties. All units are equipped with two-speed landing gear having an 18in. outrun.

All electric and air services are laid down a central conduit and external couplings are protected in a steel casing. With the exception of the skeletal container-carrying models, all the units are decked with half-lapped hardwood flooring. Flush or raised side raves are optional.

TIR units are included in the range and to cater for these operations and fleets which have not yet standardized on 24V lighting, all the models are equipped with a voltage dropper-box enabling 12 or 24V systems to be coupled at will.

A feature of the new range is that its specification is 100 per cent complete as listed, there being no extras available. A reinforced headboard and substantial under-run bumper, roping hooks at 2ft intervals all round and steel mudfiaps with rubber extensions are all standard equipment. The loading height is 4.5ft but this can be varied to suit individual requirements.
