rAA SET of tandem-axle running gear has been supplied by Cranes (Dereharri), Ltd., to Thomas Allen, Ltd. It is being fitted to a 3,600-gallon frameless tanker semi-trailer by Darham Industries, Ltd. The tanker is to operate with Scammell Highwayman tractive units. The equipment supplied includes the fifth wheel and sub-frame.
Features of the running gear include air suspension, single wheels with 14.00-20 (22-ply) tyres, wedge-operated 15+ in. x 6 in. brakes actuated by directacting brake cylinders on a 2-pipeline air-pressure system, and handwheel brake application on the leading pair of wheels.
