Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

'WRITE regarding Steve Hobbs' letter (CM2 December) and! have to say: Well said Steve! lam a recruitment consultant for HGV drivers, a mother, and the wife of an HGV driver. I have the same concerns myself regarding the possible crash this country could see when WTD comes into force.

Does no-one in the government realise that almost everything we buy has been on a truck at some point? Therefore that it will cost more to transport our goods and therefore more to buy them? This means we will all need a pay rise just to eat...

My first reaction was to emigrate to a country that regards HGV driving as a profession. We have now decided to buy our own tractor unit so my husband will be exempt from the regulation for now. Maybe it could be taken to the European Court of Human Rights, but I'm not hopeful.

I don't know what it will take to make the powers that he and the public realise that road transport is the lifeblood of this country. Maybe another strike like the fuel protests of 2000 will give them a wake up call2 I for one would welcome such extreme measures.
