Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DESPITE THE recent pronouncements from Dennison and SDC that they won't be going to the 2005 Commercial Vehicle Show. Montracon has given the NEC exhibition a resounding thumbs up.

It promises to show three new products at Birmingham next April, including a double-deck reefer.

Paul Mead, sales and marketing director for the market leading trailer manufacturer, says: "We strongly believe in the show and have been disappointed to see the negative reaction towards it. If you have a new product, that's the platform to launch it."

Mead insists show visitors want to see product rather than visit 'watering holes': "They go to see innovation and what's happening in the business." The lifting-deck reefer is aimed at supermarkets and will compete head-on with a similar product from Gray andAdams. The twin-deck prototype seen by CM has already undergone extensive trials with UK operators. The current triaxle version weighs around 16,180kg complete with ROR running gear. However, Mead says the production version due to be launched next spring will be up to 1,400kg lighter.

The Montracon double-decker significantly increases the capacity of a standard reefer to 40 pallets, with the option to add a further eight on a secondary deck mounted over the trailer neck.

A full report on the latest activities of Montracon and Dennison Trailers will appear soon.
