Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Sixty new drivers jobs could be axed in Cheshire during a public inquiry into a supermarket chain's plan to build a warehouse and distribution centre.

The Department of the Environment has called in plans from William Morrison Supermarkets for the 56,000m2 site at Lach Dennis following protests from local residents. The inquiry starts next month.

Morrison hoped to start up to 600 daily deliveries from the warehouse next October, but even if the plans are approved at the public inquiry the completion date will be pushed back well into 1995.

The proposed site will serve 60 supermarkets in the North and Midlands using Morrison's fleet of liveried trucks. Planning committee members at Vale Royal Borough Council have already approved the scheme.
