• Declan McGowan became one of the first LGV drivers to take and pass his driving test on a drawbar outfit last week.
Wallace School of Transport in Wembley, Middx, has introduced using drawbars because "there are more in service and they are more comfortable", says owner Neil Wallace.
McGowan, who is now signing on as an agency driver, hopes that passing his test on a drawbar will help him find a job; he hopes to become a longdistance driver.
