• The Transport Tribunal has rejected a plea that the revocation of Hayes-based David Bough's licence be delayed pending an appeal. South Eastern Traffic Commissioner Brigadier Michael Turner revoked the 12vehicle eight-trailer licence following convictions for handling stolen property pending an appeal.
An Eastbourne disciplinary inquiry heard that in 1992 Bough, who trades as Cronks, had been convicted at Knightsbridge Crown Court on eight counts of handling stolen motor cycles, He was fined £12,000, with £4,000 towards the costs of the prosecution, and given a nine-month sentence suspended for two years.
Bough maintained that he had notified the Traffic Area of the convictions. He agreed that he had not attended a public inquiry arranged in November 1992 because of illness, and claimed that he had never received the calling in letter for a new date.
Brigadier Turner said he had a duty to consider whether Bough had lost his repute. He refused to delay the implementation of his decision pending an appeal to the Transport Tribunal.
