• More than 1,000 workers at Leyland Daf Vans have received Christmas bonuses of £200 worth of shares.
This follows healthy sales since the firm was rescued from the threat of closure by a management buyout in April. "The past year has been tough and traumatic but thanks to a lot of hard work we have hit all the targets we set ourselves in the business plan," says chief executive Allan Amey.
The company has built more than 7,000 vehicles worth £80m since April; it now holds 13% of the panel van market.
Leyland Dais engine reconditioning plant at St Helens has been sold to British Polar Engines by receiver Arthur Andersen. Only the technical centre and crankshaft line at Leyland are left on the market following the crash of the parent company.
