BUSY vans make splendid mobile advertise

ments—so long as the livery promotes the right image. The past couple of years have seen many traditional, and too often dated and drab, vehicle liveries replaced by bright. eye-catching designs. The design consultant is much in vogue, and paint manufacturers have not been slow to realize the advantages of offering clients a consultancy in this field.

The Kerry Group Ltd. is currently providing a good example of how planned visual effect can build up the desired image. Earlier this year its publicity manager, Steve Barker, decided that a complete change in -house style" was needed. His proposal was accepted and priority was given to the fleet design for Kerry's 200plus vans.

The recently established livery design and colour advisory service of Lewis Berger (Great

Britain) Ltd. was called in (Kerry's is a major distributor of Berger refinishing materials) and its consultant, Alan Clarke, produced a scheme employing Sutherland green and Coronado yellow. A new "Kerry'sname style adopted for the vans is being used also for stationery and letterheads throughout the group. Typical vehicle and letterhead styles are seen in the photographs; the van is a Ford Transit.

Another picture on this page shows how effectively products can be promoted on light vans—especially when coupled with unusual bodywork. This is a Walker Fineline van on a Bedford CAL2 chassis. After Walkers have applied a top body coat of white BlundellPermoglaze Coach Glossex by spray, they hand-brush red and blue "darts" over it. The van is one of five of this type which Crimpy Crisps are just starting to put on the road.
