WTH a 3,000 lb. carrying capacity and an elevating platform, a battery-operated platform truck has been announced by Wessex Industries. The platform lift of 3 in. is operated either by a hydraulic pump powered by the traction battery, or by a driver-operated standard hydraulic hand pump. It has simple driving controls, with a forward reverse switch and a floor-mounted speed control pedal. The drive unit incorporates a Wessex five-speed controller, ensuring smooth automatic acceleration. Foot and hand brakes are fitted and there is a special "dead-man" foot switch.
