Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW mobile crane, Type .KL33, has been added to the range produced by K. and L. Stcelfounders and Engineers, Ltd., Letchworth. It can lift 3 tons at 7-ft. 6-in, radius,or 2 tons at 10-ft. radius, without needing outriggers. A Petter AVA2T twocylindered oil-engine drives through a

friction clutch to a three-speed gearbox and to our separate clutches, one for each crane motion.

The clutch for the winch motion gives smooth hoisting_ and sensitive control when lowering is ensured by two spring-controlled shoes working on a large drum. The superstructure runs on a ring of ball bearings, with hook rollers beneath, and can turn a complete circle or be locked in any position. The derrick motion passes through bevel-and-worm gearing, and an automatic brake is provided.

The travel motion goes through a flexible coupling to a gearbox above the centre of rotation of the superstructure, and then through a vertical shaft, The chassis has four wheels with two-leadingshoe brakes, and 7.50-20 pneumatic tyres fitted to steel restrictor• wheels: these protect the sides of the tyres and take the full load if a tyre should become deflated.

The road wheels can be driven either direct, or through a two-wheel or four-wheel differential drive. The two-whet1 differential model can be fitted with either twowheel or four-wheel steering, and with the latter the turning-circle radius is only 13 ft.

The fully enclosed driving cab is on the right front of the superstructure, and a gravity-operated radius/load indicator is fitted on the jib.
