RANWELL. secretary of the London General Cab Co., Ltd., has been appointed to the board.

MR. J. DUNFORD SMITH, advertising manager of Henley's Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., and other companies in the Henley organization, has retired becanse of ill health. He has been succeeded by MR, A. S. BREWER, who joined Henley'.5. in 1922 and became assistant advertising manager in 1954.

MR. J. WILSON, principal of Birmingham College of Technology has been appointed director of education and training of the British Motor Corporation with effect from April I. 1956. His appointment is the first stage in a long-term educational plan of the B.M.C. designed to attract youths who wish to adopt an engineering career.

MR. T. R. C/TomPlutsts has been appointed sales manager (automotive) of the Mobil Oil Co., Ltd. This is a new post and Mr. Tompkins will be deputy to MR. F. P. BARRIBAL, general sales manager (automotive). MR. T. W. W. THOMPSON Succeeds Mr. Tompkins as manager of the retail merchandising department. and MR. 1. M. MR. 0. C. WELsy, director of sales of Vauxhall Motors. Ltd., has assumed responsibility for all sales and service functions at home and overseas. MR. G. E. MOORE is now home sales manager and MR. C. E. RUST, field opera-' tions manager. MR. R. II. BATCHELOR has become deputy director of supply, assisting MR. A. W. LASKEY. MR C. G. TIPPER heads the export sales department, and MR, R. L. EHRLICH, as assistant general sales manager, is responsible for the parts, accessories and service functions of the sales organization. MR. W. H. PHILLIPS continues as parts and accessories manager. Mr. W. B. DRAPER has been appointed chief inspector and MR. T. T. BROWN, service manager.
