Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

modified system of street lighting will be in operation in Glasgow. This statement was made by Bailie R. Y. Gemmell, convenor of Glasgow Lighting Committee, on his return from London a few days ago, where he had been conferring with Home Office officials on the subject. Preference is to be given to the main thoroughfares in the city, with the object of providing street lighting that will be sufficiently bright to minimize, if not eliminate, street accidents, whilst, at the same time, conforming to national-safety requirements.

The Inspector of Lighting has been instructed to proceed immediately with the work of installing new fittings which will restrict normal illumination.

New Preparation for Cold-welding Boilers and Pipes

PIA NEW form of the well-known coldwelding compound, called Wondar Weld Domestic, is being marketed by Douglas Holt Est. 1919, Ltd., 9, Little Turnstile, Holborn, London, W.C.1. As is well known, the original product is being largely used in the industry for repairing cracked water jackets, cylinders, etc. The new type is particularly suitable for the treatment of leaking or cracked heating boilers and radiators, tanks, pipes, etc. With a heating boiler, for instance. it is necessary only to disconnect the joint or thermometer plug and pour in the compound, a permanent repair being effected in about an hour. Yet it does not clog even small-bore pipes, sealing only those parts where a leakage is occurring. Fractures up to a quarter of an inch wide can be dealt with if the instructions be followed.

The death is announced of Mr. W. PATERSON, who for 15 years had been a tyre representative in the Southampton district for Pirelli, Ltd., of Burtonon-Trent.
