GOVERNMENT proposal: will reduce the maximun permitted noise levels of nevt buses built after 1983.
Under proposals for all cate gories of vehicle (see p5) busei over 3.5 tonnes and 200hp wil have their limit reduced from 8C to 85 dB(A). Lighter buses ovel 3.5 tonnes will be restricted tc 82dB(A) (at present 89 dB(A) foi light buses over 12 seats), one vehicles under 3.5 tonnes wil be restricted to 81 dB(A) present 84 dB(A) for vehicles with fewerthan 12 seats,
