BISHOPS WHARF AND ISHERWOOD STANDARDIZES: Bishops Wharf and Isherwood Ltd, has ordered a further six Scammell 25-ft.-long flat platform " Spaceframe' fifth wheel semi-trailers. Since deciding to standardize on Bedford/Scaramell outfits, Bishops Wharf and Isherwood Ltd. has ordered a total of 10 Scammcll " Spaceframe " semi-trailers and five Bedford TI( tractive units, all with fifth-wheel coupling gear, MATCHED OUTFITS: Two Leyland Super Comets and three Scammell 13114 ton semitrailers now in service with T. Rowley (Transport) Ltd. have been designed as matched 20 ton g.t.w. outfits. The semitrailers have brakes identical with those fitted to the tractive unit rear axle and the wheels are also interchangeable ivith those on the Sauer Comet driving axle.

A.E.C. CHASSIS FOR ASSEMBLY IN SOUTH AFRICA: A total of 59 chassis are to be supplied c.k.d. to A.E.C. Vehicles (S.A.) Ltd. of Johannesburg, where they will he assembled by local labour. All will be Mammoth Major chassis, five being special eight-wheeled units to carry 25-ton cranes. Each of the latter vehicles will be fitted with an AV 690 200 b.h.p. engine, five-speed constant-mesh gearbox, independently-mounted two-speed auxiliary gearbox and two-axle drive. The remaining vehicles will be sixand eight-wheeled chassis for a variety of duties.

TASKERS FOR G.U.S. AND B.R.S.: Taskers of Andover (1932) Ltd. has recently received orders for 15 six-ton straight-frame semi trailers from G.U.S. Transport, Worcester, and seven five-ton drawbar trailers from B.R.S. Ltd.

FOUR AND ONE FOR HYDROGEN: Four more Scamtnell semi-trailers for the transport of hydrogen under pressure have been ordered by Hydrogen Supplies Ltd. and another Scarnmell Highwayman tractive unit has also been ordered by the concern.

MORE EXPORTS FOR SCAMMELL: Recent overseas orders for Scammells include a Constructor 6 x 6 30-ton oilfields vehicle for Keir and Calder Arrow Drilling U.K. Ltd., for operation in Turkey, four Sherpa dump trucks to be supplied c.k.d. to South Africa and a Constructor for Trinidad. East African Railways has ordered a further 10 Scarab tractive units.

MORE LEYLANDS FOR HOLLAND: The large Dutch bus company, Geldersche Tramwegen, has placed a repeat order for 15 Worldmaster bus chassis following the successful operation of the company's first Leyland vehicles, introduced last year. The buses will be supplied through Leyland Triumph (Holland) N.V. and will be used on inter-city services and for Continental tours. Special fitments will include Smith's magnetic particle fan couplings and anti-freeze devices for the air-brake systems.

LIVERPOOL CONTRACT COMPLETED: Three Leyland Atlantean chassis have just left the company's works en route for the coachbuilders to mark the completion of the ni. contract for 200 replacement vehicles for Liverpool Corporation Passenger Transport Department. These are fitted with 78-seater M.C.W . bodies of special design.

A.E.C. COMMERCIAL VEHICLES FOR PORTUGAL: An order from the exclusive A.E.C. distributors in Portugal, Uniao de Transportadores para Importacao e Comercio Limitada, calls for 60 fourand six-wheeled lorry chassis to be supplied c.k.d. They will he Mammoth Maior six-wheeled chassis and Mandator long-wheelbase chassis, and will be assembled in Lisbon, where a 15 per cent content of locally manufactured accessories will be included in the completed vehicles. For several years U.T.I.C. has taken large quantities of A.E.C. vehicles for assembly in Lisbon, but the previous emphasis has been on buses and coaches.
