New Suckling trainers to stamp out driver errors

S UCKLING TRANSPORT, based in Thurrock, Essex, intends to employ six new driver trainers by September as part of its ongoing schemes to eliminate driver errors.

Of these new trainers, three will be senior trainers for its contracts with ConocoPhillips and Shell.

The Driver CPC training, however, will be outsourced, and a provider will be selected that can also incorporate NVQ level 2 or 3 driver qualifications into its training.

"We recognise that we need to be raising the bar in terms of training," says MD Peter Lamer.

The business will be offering approxi mately £150,000 in driver incentives annually, and from 1 July, drivers will be placed in individual depots and national teams to try to complete 1 million kilometres of driving without accidents, spillages or product contamination.

Awards will include trophies and prizes from sponsors Michelin and MAN. Suckling will also donate money to a team's chosen charity.
