THE names of the commission on the co-ordination of transport in South Africa would 'be announced soon, said the Minister of Transport recently, As he had intimated last year, the commission was being appointed to investigate the machinery and measures required to ensure the efficient co-ordination of transport. The appointment of such a commission had been recommended by the ,Schumann Commission.
Organized commerce and industry had urged that the administration's decision be held in abeyance until it had had an opportunity of analyzing the report and submitting its views. Extensions had been permitted until December. 1964, and the observations received were now being studied.
