FIVE of these mobile pile-forming units (below) were recently supplied to the British Steel Piling Co. Ltd. Piles are produced using the Vibro forming process and the machines can be put into operation in quick time once arrived on the site since they

arc self erecting and carry much of the ancillary equipment on the structure. The fore-carriage is capable of carrying 12 tons and the tandem-axle rear bogie 18 tons. The all-up weight on the road is 30 tons.

• Front suspension is of the rubber-buffer type and normal

through-axle tandcm,suspension is used for the rear bogie. Wheels' in twin formation carry 1000-26 16-ply tyres, and 151-in. by 6-in, wedge-type brakes are fitted for operation by twinor single-line air pressure, or by hand. The from arid rear running gears were supplied by Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. complete with drawbars, lighting and mudguards. In the photograph it is being hauled by a Pickfords tractor.
