Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CARDIFF-BASED Glamorgan White Lining has invested more than £345,000 in four new DAFs, each with specialist bodywork for its road painting and Catseye laying operations.

MD John Davies, who started the company in 1999 with just one truck, has bought the 12tonners from DAF Trucks dealer Watts Truck & Van (Cardiff). The irst has been delivered and the others will follow in the next 12 months.

“We body the trucks ourselves because they are very specialised bits of kit, and we know how we want them to be built. We are buying chassis-cabs for three whiteliners, which will cost £75,000 each to buy and body, and spending £120,000 on the Catseye cutter,” he says.

The company runs 24 trucks and employs 36 people from two depots based at Cardiff and Carmarthen.

“Choosing DAF has a lot to do with the quality of the mechanics,” says Davies. “The trucks can spend a long time running idle and at low speeds, then run lat-out back to the depot so they have got to be reliable.”
