Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALTHOUGH ITS German sister now offers tractor units as part of its rental line-up,TIP says it has no plans to follow suit in the UK.

Trailer services manager Damian Wall says: "Some of our [mainland] European counterparts have started offering tractors. [But] it's not something we're currently looking at over here. The market is a bit soft and there's over-capacity in the sector; we may re-evaluate our position if the profit hardens up. There is a much bigger opportunity in Europe."

TIP recently took delivery of the first of 700 trailers from SDC. After a number of years of inactivity TIP has launched a major "re-fleeting and repositioning" exercise designed to facilitate shorter term, flexible leasing programmes to meet customer demands.

MD John Murray adds: "Customers require high quality equipment at competitive rates on a flexible basis."

TIP is emerging from a period of restructuring its UK business. The trailer fleet has been cut to about 9,000, partly to minimise liabilities on old, used trailers.
