Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE LEADING TRANSPORT solicitor Backhouse Jones is warning all operators to review arid modernise their management and compliance systems or risk losing their licences.

Partner Jonathon Backhouse warns: "We're seeing a worrying trend emerge at public inquiries where operators who were previously good operators 10 to 15 years ago are running into trouble at public inquiry because they've not been modernising their systems.

"It appears the nature of the public inquiry has moved on from driving out the cowboys, where they have been broadly successful, to a tightening up of standards throughout the industry. This means companies who were generally respectable are now coming into conflict with the law."

Backhouse warns that it's no longer enough for companies to have systems in place to manage all aspects of their operation— they also have to ensure they are constantly reviewing and modernising these practices
