cif = coming into force Vehicles Excise and Registration Ad 1994—cif 1 September 1994. Consolidates the much amended Vehicles Excise Act 1971. SI No 298 Quick Frozen Foodstuffs (Amendment) Regulation 1994—cif 1September 1994. Implements EC Directives 92/1 and 92/2 on the monitoring of temperatures of quick-frozen foods during transport, warehousing, storage, sampling procedures and methods of analysis.

SI No 1503 The Removal and Disposal of Vehicles (Amendment) Regulations 1994—cif 4 July 1994. Provides for the removal and disposal of vehicles, in the case of a contravention of a prohibition or restriction on the waiting of vehicles on roads, in connection with certain special events.

SI No 1838 The Passenger and Goods Vehicle (Recording Equipment) Regulations 1994—cif 9 August 1994 Amends the definition of "the Community Recording Equipment Regulation" in the Transport Act 1968 to take account of a minor technical amendment to the EC driver's hours and recording equipment legislation. Only applies to tachographs fitted to new vehicles brought into service from 1 January 1996.

SI No 1862 The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (No 2) Regulations 1994—cif 5 August 1994. Alter the conditions

which a person suffering from epilepsy has to satisfy if s/he is to be granted a driving licence. The principal change is that the period during which s/he must have been free from attacks whilst awake is reduced from two years to one year. There are also as a result changes to the rules on those who have a history of sleep attacks.

SI No 1911 The Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) (No2) Regulations 1994—cif 31 August 1994. Extends the issue of trade licences to businesses modifying vehicles at any time and valeting them prior to sale, whereas previously they had only been issued for such activities prior to registration. Also allows vehicles used to travel to or from the place of collection of a vehicle to be carried in that vehicle.

SI No 2136 The Motor Vehicles (Tests)(Amendrnent) Regulations 1994—cif 5 September 1994. Increases fees for MOT tests so that, for example, the cost of Class IV tests (cars and light vans up to 3000kg) goes up from 225.30 to 226.10).

The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use)(Amendment) Regulations. In cab height signs for vehicles over 3m; warning systems for vehicles with high level power operated equipment; notification to highway authorities of vehicle and loads operating above 4.88m. Still under discussion and awaiting implementation date.
