• United Road Transport UT ion general secretary Frank Griffin has castigated the Gov eminent for its "disgraceful plan" to build only 320Icm of motorway before the Channel Tunnel opens.
Seconding a TUC conferenc proposal urging the Government to spend more on construction and roads, Griffin warned: "We will bleed to death in the regions without a massively increased infrastruc ture investment" Britain will not reap the full benefit from the tunnel unless the regions were helped by a vastly improved road network, he said.
