• Minibus operators are attaching more importance to passenger benefits when buying new vehicles, according to a survey by Steyr-licensed minibus manufacturer City Vehicle Engineering.
The Shildon, County Durham-based manufacturer interviewed 68 minibus operators who were asked to rank the importance of major vehicle features on a scale of one to five.
The firm says it was not surprised when running costs came out as operators' top priority with an average score of 4.4. Maintenance and repair costs, along with stable handling, came joint second with a score of 4.3.
Easy accessibility, however, came very close in fourth position with 4.2 points, followed by low step height and wellpositioned handrails with 3.9. Comfortable seats came next with a mark of 3.6. Other features mentioned were vehicle adaptability, spacious interior, large windows and ample luggage space.
