Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

RELIANT have introduced a new four-wheel, 5ewt capacity van and called it the Rebel 750. They are offering the Reliant TW9 16ewt capacity three-wheel chassis cab for general sale: this unit has hitherto been sold only to specialist body builders to produce a small tipper or road cleansing vehicle.

The Rebel van is claimed to be the only chassis-built van in production; it is fitted with a grp body. Payload capacity, including passenger accommodation, is 60 cu. ft., capacity behind the seats is 46 Cu. ft.

The vehicle is powered by a 750 cc four-cylinder water-cooled overhead valve alloy engine, producing 32 bhp at 5,500 rpm. Drive is transmitted from the engine via a single 6.25in. diameter dry-plate clutch to a four-wheel speed synchromesh gearbox with ratios of 1:1, 1.32:1, 2.04:1, 3.88:1, reverse 3.25:1. A single piece propeller shaft transmits the drive to a 4.375:1 spiral-bevel, semi-floating rear axle.

Independent coil spring suspension with hydraulic dampers are fitted at the front wheels. Semi-elliptic leaf springs, with optional double acting , dampers, are fitted to the rear axle.

The service brakes are hydraulic, the handbrake is mechanically linked to the rear axle.only. It is fitted with a Burman-Douglas worm and peg steering unit.

The loading height is 22in. and access to the load space is from a large single piece slam door.

The Reliant TW9 chassis cab is fitted with a similarly designed engine of 700 cc capacity producing 29 bhp at 5000 rpm. These engines run on low octane two star fuel. Steering is Burman-Douglas worm and peg.

The single front wheel has a leading arm type suspension utilizing a coil spring hydraulically damped unit. Suspension at the rear axle is a conventional, semi-elliptic leaf spring.

The cab is of grp construction and is manufactured by a unit construction technique for increased rigidity.

Brakes are hydraulically activated, Sin, by lt at the front, 9in. by 1+ at the rear. The handbrake is mechanically linked to the rear wheels only.

A Borg and Beck dry single plate clutch transmits drive to a four-speed fully synchromeshed gearbox. Ratios are 1:1, 1.454:1, 2.55:1 and 4.272:1, reverse 3.582:1. The rear axle ratio is 6.5:1.

The vehicle is fitted with 6.40-13.00 6 ply tyre equipment and has a 12V negative earth electrical system. •
