Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

RECTANGULAR Cibie headlamp units as fitted to the Citroen AMI 6 ear are now obtainable in the U.K. from the sole concessionnaires and distributors for the French makers—Brit-Over, Ltd., 17 Eyre Court, Finchley Road. London, N.W.8. The design of the reflector of these units combines the advantages of the Continental asymmetric meeting beam and the four-headlamp system.

In addition, the rectangular form will no doubt be welcomed by body designers, particularly of luxury coaches, as this shape will blend well with current trends in body styling.

Overall dimensions of the Cibie headlamp, measured over the chromiumplated surround, are 134-in, wide by 71-in. high. The glass itself measures 9 in. by 41 in. Maximum depth of the surround is 2/g in, and the distance from the extreme rear of the bulb adaptor to the locating face behind the front surround is 64 in.

The light unit incorporates a large rectangular parabolic reflector (in effect a circular reflector with the top and bottom portions flattened) with segments of small-diameter parabolic reflectors located in front of it, above and below the bulb. The angular dimensions of the segments allow the bulb to illuminate the whole of the actual parabolic surface of the large reflector. This arrangement provides a long-range, wide-angle beam of even intensity and makes the headlamp units ideal for high-speed driving.

Other features incorporated in the Cibie headlamps are means for converting them from left-hand to right-hand dipping and for adjusting the vertical aim from the driving .position.

The first is carried out by removing the bulb holder, which is held in place by two spring clips, and re-positioning a small locating peg to the right or left according to the dipping required. The second is made possible by pivoting the reflector and glass at its top fixing in the housing and altering the position of the bottom through a spring-loaded control cable.

A 45/40 W. double-filament bulb is fitted and the bulb holder has at its end connections for earth, main and dip filament leads.
