%EVELOPMENTS of an interesting 'nature have been made in connecas with the Delvaux system of em)ying gas fuel for vehicle engines, Ice we described the scheme in our

ue dated March 24 last. Readers LI remember that M. Delvaux , Uccle, ussels, employs an injection pump open, by hydraulic means, a gas et valve.

It is in relation to engines running producer-gas that the progress has ni made, and we are informed that results obtained from the latest ?aratus are very satisfactory. An accompanying drawing shows a layout which differs from the earlier arrangement, primarily designed for town gas, which we illustrated on the former occasion.

First it will be observed that a rotary blower is incorporated in the system. Secondly, there is also a reservoir in which gas is stored under pressure. Thirdly, the gas is induced into the cylinder in the ordinary manner as well as being forced into it through an injector.

From the producer, after passing through the necessary cleaners and coolers, the gas reaches a branch pipe, by which a portion of it flows to the compressor. The rest continues along the main pipe to the normal induction manifold, air being admitted, through two valves, by which the proportions of air and gas are appropriately controlled. One of these is automatic, whilst the other is variable.

With regard to the branch pipe, the gas is discharged from the blower into a cylinder in which it is accumulated at a pressure variable from 28 to 43 lb. per sq. in. A relief valve is provided from which the gas can blow off, by means of a by-pass, to the main supply pipe.

From a reservoir it flows to the injector, by which it is admitted to the combustion chamber, when the small valve is opened by the hydraulic apparatus.

The details of this and of the remaining gear were described in the article mentioned already. One minor difference, however, is noteworthy, namely, that the gas separated from the oil-gas mixture, leaking past the piston in the injector, is returned to the induction pipe, whereas in the other scheme it . was conveyed ,back to the injectorsupply pipe.
