No records means inquiry is adjourned

AN APPLICATION for a new 0-licence by Chesterfield-based Trebelar Regeneration, trading as MXG Waste Solutions, has been adjourned by the North-Western Traffic Commissioner Beverley Bell until the company can produce all the documents asked for in the call-up letter.

The firm, which was engaged in skip hire, waste transfer and refuse, had applied for a new restricted 0-licence for six vehicles and one trailer before Bell.

For the firm, Anton Balkitis revealed director David Timer had been a director of Detec Environmental, which went into administration in 2005 after losing a substantial amount of money on the Birmingham Mailbox demolition contract. That firm's 6-licence was revoked upon its liquidation. Turner was also a director of Matrix Grade, which went out of business due to substantial losses over a contract with Harland & Wolf in Belfast.

Balkitis said the various companies had not been created for debt avoidance, and the TC said she was satisfied it wasn't a phoenix case.

However, after it emerged that Trebelar's accounts had not been produced. the TC said she expected operators to comply with the terms of the call-up letter and send in required documents seven days before the public inquiry For too long operators and their legal representatives had ignored the requirements in the rall-up letter.

Balkitis said the accounts would be faxed to the Traffic Area Office. The company had joined the RHA, and director Ross Turner had passed the CPC examination.

Adjourning the proceedings after Ross Turner had said they did not have their maintenance records with them for the five vehicles in possession, the TC said it had been a completely wasted morning.
