• Components firm Albion Automotive has been bought by American Axle & Manufacturing. A company spokesman stresses that the companies are "completely complementary" and that "there will be no consequences to the workforce as a direct result of this".

• Crane Fruehauf's parent group SESR is now known as General Trailers France. CF's name remains unchanged, as do those of the its French sister companies such as Benalu and Trailor.

• Scunthorpe haulier Motaline has added 10 new Fruehauf step-framed high-cube van trailers to its furniture delivery fleet. They will be used on contract to Lebus Furniture carrying up to 1,500 new three-piece suites a week. Motaline now has more than 50 trailers in its fleet.

• Salford Van Hire is using 20 new MAN chassis on contract to Air Express International (UK). They include 13 L2000 7.5tonners; five M2000 17-tonners; and an 1 8.403 prime mover and tractive unit, based at the Manchester and Leeds depots.

• Hyva Holdings has taken over the Nooteboom range of skip loaders; production is being transferred to the Hoogeven plant of Technamics, another Dutch manufacturer of skip and container handling systems recently acquired by Hyva. The former Nooteboom design for 17-32-tonne GVW rigids is already sold in Britain by Hyva UK.
