SURVEY & GENERAL Instrument Company of Fircroft Way, Edenbridge, Kent, is marketing an ingenious combined tape-measure and calculator which measures 95x 65x34mm (3.75x2.56x1.34in).
The tape-measure, of Japanose origin, is a standard five metre (16ft) steel ruler while the 36 function calculator has an eight-digit liquid-crystal display. In addition to the usual functions, it also features 32 conversions which include imperial length, area and volume to metric and vice versa, US and UK measurements to metric and Fahrenheit/Celsius conversions, Additionally, the instrument has a Pythagoras function to allow the user to calculate the hypotenuse of a triangle.
