Lam, Yorks Extension on M62: The Miester of Transport has published his proposed route for the final 104 miles of the 54-mile-long Lanes-Yorks motorway (M62). Schemes covering the 431 miles from the motorway's western terminal at Worsley, near Manchester, to Lofthouse. south of Leeds, have already been confirmed. The route now Published extends M62 eastwards from a point just east of the interchange with Ml near Lofthouse to a point on the Great North Road (Al) south of Ferrybridge.

C26 A5 Improsement in Midlands: One of the most congested stretches of A5 in the Midlands is to be widened and improved at a total cost of about £160.000. The scheme provides for improving some 21 miles of the trunk road between Bransford Bridge, Warwickshire and Cross-in-Hand, Leicestershire. Dual 24 ft.-wide carriageways will be provided over 1,500 yd. and a single 33 ft.wide carriageway over the remainder of the stretch.

A new roundabout will be constructed at the trunk road's junction with A4114 (Coventry-Lutterv,orth road) and B4455 road to Nuneaton.

High Wycombe By-pass Scheme: The Minister of Transport has invited fresh tenders for the five-mile length of the High Wycombe by-pass (MOM) from Handy Cross to a point on the A40 trunk road about 1-mile west of Beaconsfield. The start of this scheme has been deferred for six months because of current Government policy, but preparations are now being made to enable work to start when the postponement period is over.
