A1VIONG the new vehicles to be shown at the Motor Show, which opens at Earls Court on October 20, will be a Standard Ten estate car based on the Standard Ten saloon. It has a steel-panelled, six-light body with provision for four passengers and 1 cwt. of luggage. Carrying two people and with the rear seats folded, 4 cwt. of -goods or personal luggage can be accommodated.

There are four forward-hinged passenger doors and two doors at the rear to provide access for loading and unloading. The front doors are fitted with wind-up windows and pivoted adjustable ventilators.

The normal effective floor length is 2 ft. 11 in., and with the rear seat folded flat, an additional 1 ft. 10 in, is made available.

The four-cylindered petrol engine develops 33 b.h.p. at 4,500 r.p.m. A Borg and Beck clutch takes the drive to a four-speed gearbox having ratios of 4.55, 6.62, 11.2 and 19.45 to 1. Hypoid-bevel .gears are used in the back axle, the ratio being 4.55 to, 1.

In the Girling hydraulic brake system 68 sq. in. of facing area are provided, the brake-drum dimensions being 7 in. by 11 in. Independent front-wheel suspension is by coil springs. Suspension control is by telescopic shock absorbers at the front and pistontype at the rear, The leading dimensions of the vehicle are: Maximum interior height, 4 ft 01 in.; rear headroom, 3 ft. 2 in.; maximum interior width, 4 ft. 2 in.; overall length, 11 ft. 11 in.; overall width, 4 ft. II in. The weight, complete with fuel, oil and water, is 15 cwt. 3 qr. 14-1 lb.
