THERE were several last-hour surprises on the Tecalemit stand (Tecalemit, Ltd.. Great West ltd., Brentford, Middlesex) at Earls Court last week. One of the most outstanding was the latest oneand two-gun washing plant, with twin-cylindered double-acting pump and

80 gallon tank. Its " plumbing" is noteworthy in being adaptable for take-off from either side. The pump body is of manganese bronze.

A pedestal meter for engine-oil dispensing was shown, among the attractive duo-blue service plant, whilst the Easigun pneumatic lubricant gun aroused interest.

Service engineers were displaying keen interest in the new hydraulic pit jack, which has a plate-type head 2 ft. 3 ins, square, and a maximum rise of 12 ins. Designed to be built-in at • each side of the pit, it can be used for work on brakes and wheels, spring removals and replacements, and other

tasks. . Its table top leaves the operative's hands free when dealing with springs. Cost is £65 (trade) and £98 for the pump unit, which will, however, operate up to 12 jacks.

Compelling in its attraction for public-service-vehicle operators, the external-vacuum refueller was shown in its latest improved form. Like the pit jack, it has been used by London Transport.

Modern and colourful to the last degree, the exhibit of the Armature Manufacturing Co., Middleton Road. Oldham, nevertheless represented the product of many years of experience and meticulous research. The new Octopus electrical workshop, in gleaming blue, cream and chromium.

was an assembly which embodied several of the latest items, with the 1949. Mark III lightweight electrical test bench as a centre-piece.

Tike test bench, built up from aluminium castings produced in the company's own foundries, has a 2-h.p. motor, and includes voltmeter, ammeters, tachometer, syncrogeope, load and field resistances, H.T. spark gap, 230-volt continuity test, and work table with three V blocks.

A quick-action puller press of robust design was displayed. It is a universal tool capable of removing and replacing all sizes and types of bearing, gear, couplings, etc.

The Weaver high pressure steam cleaner was shown in its latest forms by the Weaver Manufacturing and Engineering Co., Ltd., Magna Works, London Road, Bedford. The universal heavy-duty model has been developed to meet the demand for a machine capable of withstanding constant hard usage. Provision is made for two cleaning guns to be used at the same time, thus greatly increasing the amount of work that can be done. " From cold water to 100 lb. Steam pressure in one minute" is the proud boast of Weaver. • Already well known for its Buma Cent-Ro Mte cylinder boring machine, the Buma Engineering Co., Ltd.. Robson Street, Newcastle-on-Tyne, 6, showed the Tru-Blo valve-seat driver, which the company has used successfully in its own repair department. The device is strong and simple, and is based on the use of a sliding hammer and suitable pilot stems. The Wayne V. Myers Co., Ltd., 363, High Road, Chiswick, London, W.4, maker of Redex additive, exhibited the following items which are completely new: Lubrocharger, flexible-stem compression gauge, de luxe service-station dispenser, generalpurpose service gun and filter tank. A precision built cylinder head servicing fixture was a surprise item in the exhibit of Jenks Bros., Ltd., Bristol Works, Bushbury, Wolverhampton. It is a treadle-operated device and has interchangeable bars to hold the valves closed; there are spring racks and a • cotter tray. A new spring tester was also shown.

Transport service equipment, including automatic air compressors from 3-cubic-ft. to 9-cubic-ft. capacity, was shown by William Turner (Kismet), Ltd., Eyre Works, Sheffield, I, and this included the new Autocoil air tower, an imposing appliance. The Kismet Navigator wall control, with its rotary movement, is outstanding.

Skyhi, Ltd., Worton Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, showed a new long-reach trolley jack and a model of the new 10-ton twin-ram hydraulic lift.

Lectroseal is the name given to an entirely new Bowes Seal Fast tyrerepair machine, which was demonstrated fully by Messrs. Automotive Parts and Accessories, Hailsham, Sussex.

Plant and equipment in the same category were exhibited by Stenor, Ltd., 37, Kew Foot Road, Richmond, Surrey, a noteworthy example being the currently introduced Weldmaster. Vulcaplast Industries, Ltd.. Mount Stuart Square. Cardiff. also had a variety of vulcanizing equipment.

A new washing plant was shown by Kerry's (Great Britain), Ltd., Warion Road, • Stratford. London, E:15.
