Guy Motors (230,000), registered office, Lonsdale Chambers, Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton, to carry on the business of manufacturers of, amongst other things, motorbuses, vans and wagons. The first directors are S. S. Guy, managing and permanent director, T. S. Cooper S. Bayliss, and J. A. Jordan."

With reference to the above registration, we learn that the first few vehicles are in course of manufacture. Some of these will be on the road during the course of the next six weeks. A few advance details of the machines may be of interest. They are designed to carry from 20 to 25 cwt. The engine will be 15.9 h.p. R.A.C. rating.

A patent governor, which is part and parcel of the gearbox, will be the feature of speed control. This arrangement will not prevent the full speed of the ''rigine's being developed when the car is in its lowest gear going -up a hill. The whole of the governing arrangements will be enclosed and sealed, to prevent interference by unauthorized persons. The engine and gearbox will be carried on a sub-frame, which is separated from the main frame by a new design of three-point suspension, by which any distortion of the main frame cannot affect them.

The gearbox is provided with two top gears, a normal one taking the full load up any reasonable hill, and an extra one when the vehicle has a light load or is running empty, or for use in particularlylevel country. Owing to the method of governing, the maximum speed of the vehicle will not be increased by the use of the higher gear, but merely the engine speed reduced, which is estimated to mean a reduction of petrol and oil consumption of about 20 per cent. Special attention has been paid to the lubrication of the universal joints, and provision is made for the replynisehment of lubricant from the outside of the car, so that it will not be necessary to get under the vehicle to lubricate.

So far as the back axle is concerned, the whole of the werking parts can be taken out on the roadside without removing the axle from the car, or without disturbing the road wheels. Detachable wheels will be fitted, and the chassis is designed to run on either solid or pneumatic tires. Marylebone Borough Council's electric vehicle is stated to be proving of great service, during the present crisis, for ordinary haulage, for guard duty, and inspection of public-lighting arrangements. The special advanced lectures and courses of the University of London, King's College, in connection with the "Faculty of Engineering," includes this year 10 lectures on "Modern explosion engines used in Automobile and Aircraft." Mr. G. A. Burls, MICE., is the lecturer. The fees for the course are one guinea and for drawing and design two guineas. The first lecture took place on Thursday, 8th October. We °learn from Mr. Burls that special attention is to be devoted to aero engines—a, topic of unusual interest.
