Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ON FRIDAY last week the government released its latest figures on credit card fraud. They brought a wry smile to my face following the events of the previous evening.

I had to fill up with dery hut there was nowhere close at hand to use my agency cards so I pulled into the Esso service station next to the M40 on the A43.The sign on the pump says you must inform the kiosk of your intended method of payment so I took my Switch card in.The attendant refused to authorise the pump to fill me up unless !allowed him to retain my card on the counter while I was outside filling up.

I pointed out the opportunity of credit card or identity theft and that someone had only to note down the credit card number and the security number on the back. and they could be on a world cruise at my expense before my bank statement arrives.

They had sight of my means of paying,my registration number, and a video camera watching my every move, but felt they could not risk 000 worth of derv.

I in turn found it impossible to trust a youth, with a name badge to prove his trustworthiness, with £20,000 of credit. So no derv.

I went on to the services at Bicester only to find the same Esso reception committee. So the Firm's shareholders lost out on nearly £350 of business twice in 20 minutes.

By comparison Total tell you Dn their website nor to leave your Total Fuels card with the kiosk to avoid fraud and theft.

Any comments from Esso would be very interesting.
