LINCOLNSHIRE HAULIER Benton Bros increased its pre-tax profit by nearly 700% in 2006. The Boston-based operator, founded in l 908, made £194,124 pre-tax profit in the financial year to 31 January 2007, up from £27,810 the previous year. The firm's accounts did not give figures for turnover, apart from revealing that it rose 13%.
The company says it "reduced its reliance on subcontractors and increased its own workforce to give more control over its operations". Benton's also re-organised its board.
