1.o.T.A. Prize : The Institute of Traffic Administration will award an annual prize valued at 25 guineas for the best paper submitted at the examination held at the end of the University of London Certificate in Transport Studies course. Announcing this at the annual dinner of the Institutes Birmingham Centre last Friday. Mr. J. L. Austin, chairman of the Institute's national council, said that something more than practical experience was needed by the traffic administrator today. The Institute welcomed the London University course as being a most valuable contribution to transport education.

New S.P.D. Depot: S.P.D. Ltd. is to open its big new cold storage depot on the Harrowbrook Industrial Estate, Hinckley, Leics. which is due to be brought into use about the middle of next January. The company's Nottingham and Peterborough depots serve part of the Midlands and the new depot will serve areas outside the range of the preseni depots, Rig Transport Contract: The Pointer Group of Norwich has been contracted by Richard Costain Ltd. to transport 175,000 yards of filling material for the runway extension at Yeadon Airport, Leeds. The material is to be carried from three separate points, each about three mites from the airport. Pointers will use 12 of their 12to 15-ton-vehicles and expect to shift 1,300 to 1:500 yards-a-day, completing the job within five months.

Carlisle Hauliers Liquidated: Robert Liddle Ltd., of Carlisle, at a meeting decided to go into liquidation and Mr. W. C. Kyle, a Carlisle accountant who has been acting as receiver for the company, was appointed liquidator. The total amount of debt expected to' be proved by creditors is £35,069. Mr. Kyle told the meeting, with the estimated amount available standing at £19,514. which left a difference of £15,555. Doubtful d:b:s not included Ln the £35,069 amounted to £3,986.
