ORD STOKES of Leyland will e the next president of the istitute of Road Transport Enineers, when London Transoil chairman Sir Peter Meseeld steps down.
He has accepted an invititation .om the Council and will take ffice at the conclusion of the ational annual general meeting t the Royal Society of Arts in Ictober.
As chairman and chief execuve of British Leyland and later resident, Lord Stokes was at le head of Britain's largest lotor manufacturer employing early 200,000 people with a Jrnover of £1,000m.
He retired in 1979 but is still a onsultant to Leyland Vehicles.
